This is a question New Patients as when they first arrive at our office. The answer is simple but complex.
What we are looking for is a Vertebral Subluxation Complex somewhere along the spine. What this is, is a misalignment of the bones of the spine that irritates a nerve. This irritation causes your body to malfunction. This malfunction can cause you pain…which is what makes most people come to my office, but in others it just causes damage to the joint and causes you problems you may not become aware about for years.
One of the best ways we find out what is wrong and how we can help you…is using a Computerized Spinal Examination. This is a piece of equipment that uses technology to determine where there is irritation on your spine and helps us map this on a graph so we can locate the exact bone that is out of alignment.
The scan that we do is a SEMG which stands for Surface Electromyography. This is a device that measures the amount of electrical activity your muscles release when they are contracted, more commonly known as muscle tension.
This is a non-invasive test with absolutely no pain at all.
Muscle activity is important, because the muscles has a tendency to “brace” in response to spinal misalignment’s, know as the Vertebral Subluxations. These subluxations cause nerve interference which effects muscles, blood vessels and internal organs.
