Costa Mesa Chiropractor answers common questions?

I get asked questions every day by my patients…one of the most common is, “Do you think I injured a muscle?”

While it’s difficult to determine the exact cause of your pain without an examination and additional diagnostic testing…like a possible x-ray, we do know some things that will help us determine whether you injured a muscle or if you could have something more serious relating to a nerve or joint problem.

1. A muscle injury is usually something you “know” what you did…meaning, I lifted a box and felt the pain, I slipped and fell, or some similar injury.

2. A muscle injury usually will begin to heal and continue to heal over a period of days and maybe a week or so.

3. Muscle injuries are usually located in one area and don’t cause pain to travel…for example pain that radiates into an arm or leg.

These are some common questions I ask when we first have a consultation with a patient. If your pain has been coming and going…meaning you have it some times and not others or it’s worse some days than others, you may have a more serious nerve or joint injury.

While you have to understand that each case and injury can be different for each patient, hopefully this gives you some useful information.

Please call our office or send me an e-mail if you have a specific question.
