The city includes a total of 16 square miles and has a population of approximately 113,440 as of 2007. Many consider the center of Costa Mesa to include the area right off the 5 Freeway and Bristol Street that includes the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Repertory Theater and South Coast Plaza. The major industries in the city are services and trade followed by manufacturing with its largest employer being the Southern California Auto Club.
