A patient asked me, “is it normal to have pain that travels into my leg?”

As a Chiropractor in my practice every day in Costa Mesa, I get asked that question often.

Well, I can tell you that any PAIN is not normal. Pain is your bodies way of telling you there is a problem.

With your car…you have a dashboard. You look at the dashboard and all the lights, buttons and gages. If you see one of them light up or you see an indicator that isn’t within normal, you become concerned. You are willing to ask someone or get it checked out.

Why do we take better care of our cars than we do our bodies??

Now, back to our original question. As a chiropractor in Costa Mesa practicing over 22 years I have seen hundreds and into the thousands of new patients. Pain that radiates into a leg or into your arm is certainly not considered normal. The only thing that travels down the length of your leg that would cause pain is a Nerve. Your nerves allow your brain to communicate with your body. They allow your muscles to work and your legs to move your body.

I remind my patients with lower back pain or any pain into the leg that a complete check up is important is find the CAUSE of the pain. We don’t want to ignore a problem and then have complications down the road. If this is your concern please call our office and find out if we can help. It’s worth a try to see if we can find the cause of your pain and get rid of it for good.

Neck pain or Low back pain can be caused by pressure on nerves in the spine that can send jolts of pain into the arm or leg. This is a good warning sign that you need to find some help.
